There are a number boathouses along the river in St Ives, the one in Cambridgeshire. They vary from quaint via rickety to solid brick. My favoutire one is the quaint one. I always enjoy a walk up from London Road, across the town bridge with side strolls on the riverside meadows. Although the town was very quiet there were a few diners in the little restaurant by the bridge, as usual, and indeed the cafés that were open were all doing good trade. It must be getting on for summer as the river cruises are back in operation with electric boats. I always tend to check out what local boy Oliver Cromwell is thinking and it seems he is always a bit pointy and grumpy.
