Down in the South West

Despite a bit of precipitation it was lovely to spend a few days down in Dorset with Helen, Paul and Alistair. Tuesday was chilly but dry and we headed to see the Pliosaur fossil near Kimmeridge. Oops the museum is closed for a month for refurbishment. Of course the Pliosaur is not going anywhere so we will visit later in the year. Plan B worked well with a walk at Durlston Head and the fine country park, as you can see above. The walk along the 100ft cliffs is excellent including a little climb to the 40 ton giant globe constructed in 1887. On Wednesday we took a run down to Moreton for a walk around St Nicholas church, to pay respects to Lawrence of Arabia and take a stroll and coffee in the Walled Garden. St Nicholas church was bombed during WW2 and rebuilt. The windows were replaced with engraved glass panels, an excellent feature, but very difficult to photograph. So just visit and enjoy. The river Frome was very high in what is a very low lying area.
