"Look at the Snappers on that, Ralph!"

After a false start earlier in the year we managed to get to see “Sea Rex” the giant Pliosaur in the Etches Collection in Kimmeridge on the Dorset coast. What a beast. They have extracted the head and are planning to try to extract the body at some point. “We are going to need a bigger boat museum.” Steve Etches has been collecting fossils for about 40 years at Kimmeridge and the collection is worth the trip down the narrow lanes to get there. We rolled over to Worth Matravers for a pastie and pint at the unique Square and Compass pub. We were not alone. The view is not too shabby. We had a visit from a young blackbird and a pair of interesting chickens. We finished the afternoon at the Blue Pool, a repurposed quarry on the Dorset heathland. It was a pleasant walk and we were joined by a peahen for a cup of coffee and her mate escorted us off the premises. A lovely day out.
