BRIAN REID PHOTOGRAPHER
A Weekend in Bonnie Scotland

I spent a lovely family weekend in Scotland with plenty of fun, food and drink. Always a pleasure. We went to Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder on Saturday after a gentle birthday evening with my sister on Friday and then dropped down to Peebles to feed a grey heron on Sunday. On Monday morning my sister Anne and I took a walk around the new Scottish gallery in the National Gallery in the morning before I made a steady run home in the afternoon/evening. Here are some snaps. Great niece Rosie features in quite a few photos. At a little over two she is interested in everything and great fun to be with. She shared a lovely moment with a Humbolt penguin. There is no birthday without a caterpillar cake and a run in a little zero-emission car. At the zoo we started a little damp so headed to indoor areas and then we were fine including a nice view of a very rare Scottish wild cat. Although I have not added photos we did have a treat at the cheetah enclosure. The wire fences don’t spoil the view but kill the photos. In Peebles it was a touch of reservoir dogs before heading to the Tweed to feed the ducks. A grey heron was across the river and to our surprise it flew over to enjoy some bread. What a treat. I won’t explain why Dave is carrying one of his daughter’s shoes as we cross the levee. I’ll finish with a few snaps in the National Gallery and along Princes Street. The central painting is obviously “The Monarch of the Glen” by Landseer. Impressive to see it not on a whiskey bottle or a box of shortbread. :-)
