Hotest Day of the Year So Far
Wednesday, 31 July 2024 10:01
It really was hot yesterday with hardly a trace of wind. The fish in the ponds and lakes in the Swiss Garden were all resting and breathing at the surface. I have not seen this behaviour before. There was a sole muntjac grazing in the shade on the meadow. As I have noted many times there Is a wonderful variety of colour in the Swiss Garden throughout the year and on a hot day you can always duck indoors to check out what is happening in the collection, like a scout troop learning how to use the Bofors gun. The camouflage on the fabric wings of the Albatros are picked out well by the skylights on a sunny day. As the planes are moved around there are always new angles to shoot like the cockpit of the Bristol Scout. Most of the visiting aircraft are small 2 and 4 seater general aviation types but yesterday there was something a little different, a Canadian designed home-built, a Murphy Renegade Spirit. Very nice. I was glad that the car has air conditioned seats which actually give a lovely gentle cooling which is “cool” and this was the first time I had used this capability.
