That Seals it. Winter is here by the North Sea.

What a lovely day it was, yesterday, at Winterton Beach in Norfolk viewing its grey seal colony. Beautiful weather was a bonus. There were 3035 pups by 4 December and more since then. A bumper year. A number of the seals were in the dunes keeping the volunteer wardens busy managing the modest midweek crowd. Mr Langshaw and I had a closish encounter with a mother and pup which took exception too us despite us keeping our distance. Photos 5, 6, 7 and 8 below and the headline image show this delightful pair. Photo 4 shows an older pup close to fully moulting its down and ready to head to sea. It was not all as chilled as most of the mothers and pups with occasional rows between some of the boys. Boys will be boys, I suppose, regardless of species. I took lots of photos and some are included in a photo essay here for those who would enjoy more seal pictures.
