A nice stroll at the Lodge

It was nice to get out for a walk with Paul and Ange yesterday at the Lodge after spending a lot of time at home sorting all the little things that build up after 5 weeks away. We certainly are enjoying summer weather and the undergrowth has surged from late spring into full summer meaning the odd nettle sting along the paths. :-)  There is also a lot of insect action and the female emperor above was busy laying eggs in the ‘swimming pool’ while bees were diving deep into the water lilies in the same place. The greylag geese are growing fast and there is clearly a second brood since I was last here. The bluebells have given way to the foxgloves with one blossom attracting a couple of leafhoppers. I don’t know what they are doing. I’ll finish with a snap of one of the many meadow browns that were flitting around.
