I Like Trees

Monday, 27 October 2025 11:54

As the title of the post says, I like trees, both local and far away. The headline image is one my local favourites in the Swiss Garden. It is an elderly acer which illuminates the autumn in the garden. A similar acer at the Lodge is not quite there yet and is also on my favourites list. Further from home is Tane Mahuta (the lord of the forest) a giant Kauri tree in New Zealand. It may be the largest by weight of all known trees in the world. Next, acknowledged as the largest living tree on Earth, is the General Grant Sequoia in California, not far from the “Big Tree” a giant redwood in the eponymous National Park, also in California. There are some very old ones too like these bristlecone pines. They are in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah and are more than 1000 years old. Some in California may be over 2500 years old. As you see I like trees as well as bridges. :-)
