What a Difference a Day Makes
Sunday, 25 May 2025 10:24
Friday was sunshine, encouraging the insects to come out like the blue damselfly above. There follow a few more snaps from Paxton Pits along by the river including a favourite, the banded demoiselle. There were friendly cattle a happy canoeist and a lovely butterfly meadow. The contrast was yesterday when I took a drive up to the Ferry Meadows Country Park at the north end of Peterborough with a solid overcast. Using my weather app to pick a window in the likely rain showers. The highlight was a lovely family of swans on on won of the lakes in the park. There were great crested grebes, black-headed gulls wooden ducks and a bold cruiser captain. There were also a few keen souls out from the watersports centre. The Nene Valley railway runs through the southe edge of the park but I did not see a train although I could hear a steam train chuffing along.
