Harwich to the Hook of Holland

Time for a new ferry trip from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. I have never visited Harwich before and still have not. The hotel was essentially in the port. I could see Harwich as my large ferry eased its way out into the channel with the massive container port of Felixstowe on the other side. Perhaps when I return I will have a look at the town. I have added a few pictures from the departure below. The ship is well equipped for the 7 1/4 hour crossing and my cabin is at the end of one of a few long corridors. The cabin has a window, a little grubby on the outside, as you would expect, but nonetheless it has given me a nice close look at one of our wind farms, above. It raises my spirits when I see the rows of turbines delivering clean energy to the UK. What a lovely day to be on the water. Apparently the ferry was 30 minutes late but arrived at the time I was given when I booked. It is a festival weekend in Rotterdam meaning later access to the berth at Hook of Holland. The usual slow passport process was OK and then off for a quick charge and here to my hotel. As the ferry arrived we could see ships heading out and a few people enjoying the beach with the classiest beach huts I’ve seen. It was obvious I was in Holland. The bicycles are unmistakeable. A good day. I’ll finish wth an arty shot from my cabin. Why not?
