Rotterdam to Bremen
Sunday, 7 September 2025 18:23
Today was another essentially travel day which started on the motorways of the Netherlands and, after a stop for a quick charge, on some more pleasant roads in both the Netherlands and Germany, before returning to the A1 motorway into Bremen, There is no question that motorways, when they are flowing, are the quickest way to get from A to B but they are generally designed to be uninteresting. I had plenty of time to get to Bremen with a planned mid afternoon arrival which would allow me time for a stroll around Schnoor, the old town, reconstructed from the ruins from WW2. The plan worked although the 20 minutes to travel the last kilometre was not on the plan. The headline picture and a few below are taken in Schnoor includng an all year Chrismas shop! To get there was a gentle 10 minute stroll from the hotel via Wallanlagen a pleasant park, which sits just outside the old town wall. A series of duck houses grace the park lake. The river Weser runs throught the city so it was worth the short walk from Schnoor to see what was happening on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon. You will see what I am describing below. On the wander back I passed the imposing Bremen Public Prosector’s Office. To round off today’s post I have included a few frames from the GoPro which was filming some of the time along the way.
