A Jaunt to Bonnie Scotland Part 1

It was lovely to spend family time in Scotland on the Solway after a wintery drive north. The route was slightly adjusted due to a road closure on the A66 at Bowes meaning a loop through a winter wonderland on the high Pennines. After successfully negotiating the slippery road it was a treat in hindsight. The view from the “van” at Southerness is worth the drive both in the afternoon and at sunrise. The beach stretches for miles and provides plenty of space for Sam, the border collie, Rosie and Jack. The ice on the beach added a few slips and a lot of fun. Rosie had a go with a little glider. She is a powerful thrower. There was a little football after a session at the amusements, leaving us all fairly worn out. I’ll finish this set with an indication of the varying driving conditions I found along the way.
