Old Warden in and out of doors

I headed off to the Lodge on Saturday without doing more than looking outside to see the weather. Not a good strategy as within a couple of miles of the house the rain was pouring down. A quick change of plan and I headed to the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden where I could get some pleasurable exercise indoors. As it happens I was already planning a visit there on the Sunday to catch up with Mr Langshaw for his first day back on the SVAS recruitment desk. So the weekend ended up being a twofer. I did manage to get a few minutes between the showers for a dash around the garden. With so few visitors on these wet days the peacocks were out of hiding sharing a bench. A rare treat. The remaining outdoor shots should give an idea of the weather and how quiet the garden was with the coots not making a dash for the water and a buzzard deciding it was time to go only after I watched it for a minute or two. One of my favourite planes in the collection is DH88 “Grosvenor House” and it was in the Engineering shop. There is always a chance of a selfie in the headlamp of a Railton. The Hurricane on the right of the two is from a Polish squadron and the one on the left is actually a sea Hurricane. I remember the airshow when the Polikarpov Po2 was presented by our, then friends, from the Russian Embassy. How quickly times change. I’ll finish for what passes for bling on the engine of the Sopwith Dove. Shiny!
