My original plan for today was to drive from Chateauroux to Ouistreham ready for the morning ferry tomorrow. It turns out there isn’t one but there is one on Thursday. Quick rerouting and a visit to the Loire on the way to and overnight here in Le Mans. Another very easy driving day. As usual I just stopped at a few locations along the way and got the camera out. I had a lovely few days a while ago visiting some of the great Chateaux but today it was outsides only from Cheverney to Chambord to Blois and Amboise before a quick charge at the Art Hotel in Rochecorbon, just outside Tours. The run up to and past the Loire was, as I remember It, pretty flat if slightly rolling and the departmental roads were, as usual, empty. I have passed Le Mans a few times and even driven the circuit a couple of times but today it was straight into the centre to the Mercure. As before I had enough time for a little wander when I got here. I was surprised it is a little hilly! You will see in the photos there is a modern city plus an old town making for an interesting stroll. Here are some photos starting along the Loire and finishing here in Le Mans. That is the remarkable chateau at Chambord above.
