Always something to enjoy at Old Warden

I am sure I have made this point before, but it is worth repeating. The Shuttleworth Collection and Swiss Garden at Old Warden are 20 minutes from home, have a good cafe and there is never a disappointing visit. The garden through the year appears to change daily and the aircraft collection requires constant work. Both rely on excellent staff and a dedicated and talented group of volunteers. This week the big attraction in the garden was the second brood of great crested grebes learning about fish. The adults were busy catching fish and bringing them to the chicks. Not a great situation for the fish, I suppose. :-) Another treat was a grey heron heading off to the meadow to join a couple of friends. The coots and moorhens are also on to a second brood. On the ground there was a Daimler owners club meeting with a few lovely Daimler Darts in attendance. Yesterday a visiting Avro 504K  was brought out for some engine running. It was worth capturing a little video as well as taking a few snaps. The video can be found here.
