I have not been taking many photos for the past fortnight adjusting to a problem with my left eye. It has been assessed but there does not appear to be a likely, swift recovery. Thanks to friends I have been able to get to appointments and other things and now, things are stable, getting out and about under my own steam. I took a trip up to Wicken Fen on Friday. It was a bit grey, but I always enjoy a run out into the Fens, even if one of the roads is restricted to 30 mph due to pretty bad subsidence. Who needs a roller coaster? :-) Wicken Fen could be better described as Wicken Meadow after the incredibly dry summer. There were berries aplenty and even an apple or two. They have lovely natural wooden benches which expose the texture of the wood as they age. I am sure the local house sparrows are thrilled that there has been a little rain for a natural bird bath.
